Creative Upcycling with James Stodgel / @OnlyGreenDesign / #HowToSantaFeDec 11, 2014
Eco-Bricks, Upcycled Shipping Pallets and Shou-Sugi-Ban....James Stodgel takes us into his world of building and craft with reclaimed materials and creative design.
Did you know that approximately 65% of all energy consumption occurs in the building trades?
James Stodgel, a Santa Fe native designer and builder, welcomes you to his backyard and base of operations for Only Green Design. OGD is a social profit dedicated to increasing environmental awareness through design build architecture. In addition to designing award-winning reclaimed furniture and creating up-cycled installation art around the world, James facilitates youth workshops to put tools in the hands of young Santa Feans, ingraining within them the values of building responsibly.
Only Green Design (OGD) envisages a sustainable, healthy, and environmentally responsible world. OGD provides an example of how architecture, community development, and social interaction can change the world for the better.
Using available and up-cycled materials, authentic and creative examples of ecological design are produced, informed by a sense of place and responsibility. Throughout this journey, an inquiry is initiated into how human development can not only be benign to the rest of nature, but beneficial to it! Basically, how can design drive rehabilitation?
Their practice is based on a shared humanity, collaboration and youth involvement. We believe the youth deserve our full attention, best work and effort to inspire and develop holistic ways of seeing and co-existing which will leave this place better than it was found.
